Now we can get into the really fun stuff. I love sweaters, especially with beads. I have one black beaded sweater that I bought at Urban Outfitters back in the 90s when I used to work there that still fits and looks great! I had a lot of fun putting this post together, so I hope you enjoy scrolling through it.
Lets start with the ultimate basic: the shell and cardigan set:
Jackie Cardigan and Shell
Here we are back at J.Crew. Look, I can see you rolling your eyes, but hear me out: This is a great basic set that looks almost exactly like the sweaters seen in photos of the 50s and 60s. It comes in a myriad of colors, AND you can get it monogrammed. I also like that it is made out of cotton, or you can get it out of cashmere, if you wish. J.Crew makes fantastic staples at a great price. Yes, it is on the expensive side- but for something that you will wear over and over, I think it is worth it.
Moving on to Etsy...
1930s Golden Knit Sweater
Isn't that a beauty! I love the color, but I also think the neck detail is stunning- I have never seen anything like that before.
Red Pin Up Sweater
Red is a classic staple, and this sweater is perfect for the 'transitional' weather. Around here it can be cold in the morning, and then warm up around noon. This is the perfect top for that kind of weather.
Cream Boucle Sweater
I almost passed this one by because I thought it might look too frumpy. Then I realized, with a set of knockers and some curvaceous hips, this could be very Marilyn and sexy. Plus who doesn't love the bling on the buttons!
1950s Sweater
Shooting Stars Sweater
Both of these black sweaters are from Fast Eddies Retro Rags on Etsy and I love them both. I think they are excellent examples of how a basic can be glammed up with a little decoration.
I also found a few jackets that I wanted to share with you dolls:
60s Jacket
Back in the days I used to work for Trina Turk and I loved her bright prints and graphics, especially on her coats. This is very reminiscent of what she does, and I find it very chic.
Faux Persian Lamb Jacket
I think this jacket has a great shape that would look good over any pants, and any fitted skirt. The color is a classic, and the buttons have a nice detail.
Last we have my Anthro picks:
Nouveau Bomber
I thought this was the coolest jacket when I first saw it. I think it is very 1940s and would look amazing with a blouse and pair of wide legged pants. It is chic, classic, and timeless
Boucle Cape
First of all, I love a winter white. Second of all, I like how this jacket accentuates the waist and lastly, I think this jacket could look good with the tons of circle skirts/dresses I already own. Some of the boxier jackets don't look like they belong when worn with a full skirt, so this coat fills in that need.
Well kittens, what do you think? Do you like my picks? Do you have any you want to share with the group? I am always on the hunt for amazing finds so be sure to mention anything in the comments.
Also, be sure to enter the giveaway. I will be picking a winner on Friday so hurry!
