Fall Essentials: The Perfect Blouse
(via my vintage vogue)
If you are going to wear a pencil skirt, then you need a blouse to go with it. Unfortunately, I am not a blouse kind of girl. See, I have been wearing t-shirts for so long, I think I forgot how to wear a blouse. I have exactly two blouses in my closet and they are both white. Other then that, all of my tops are knit- either t-shirt material or a sweater. So finding blouses for this post was difficult for me. But I think I found some real beauties.
First off I went to Etsy. That is what I always do- check for the actual vintage pieces and go from there. Here is what I found:
1940s Nylon Blouse
Here is a pretty little blouse, and I like that it is made to be worn tucked-in. What I don't like is the nylon. I have 'issues' with nylon when it comes to blouses, and it seems as if most of the blouses I found on Etsy were made out of it.
1950s Monogrammed Blouse
Now we are getting closer to what I was looking for. I know it has short sleeves, you can always layer a sweater over it. Plus it has that awesome 'A' monogrammed on it. How cool is that?
1940's Gossamer Blouse
This one is a beauty. I like the long sleeves and the bow at the neck. The buttons are lucite, and the fabric is very sheer. This could be beautiful under a cashmere sweater- I am thinking in ice blue with a dove grey pencil skirt!
1950's Floral Blouse
Ok, I know this isn't a staple, but I couldn't resist posting it because I love all things Hawaiian print. Isn't it awesome! And the Edwardian collar is removable.
1940's Ruffle Blouse
Here is my last Etsy find. I like this blouse because of the dots. I feel it can be a staple due to the fact that the red and pink dots can be worn with many colors such as black, navy, gray, and brown.
Rhythmic Blouse
This is a modern blouse from Anthropologie, but I think it feels very vintage, and I am in love with the black polkadots and funny little ruffle.
Cinched Medallions Blouse
This is a stunner. I love the color, the details, everything. I think this would be beautiful with a pencil skirt in black, winter white, or dove grey.
Scarlet Street Blouse
Of course I saved the best for last. This blouse is by far my favorite. I love the slinky sexy look fabric, the enhancing breast line, and the sweet little bow at the collar. I am seriously thinking of getting this made for me in white. I think it will be the perfect blouse to wear under all of the sweaters I will be reviewing on Thursday.
I hope you enjoyed my blouse round-up. Please remember to enter my give-away. If you post a link on your blog, you get entered twice! I will be revealing the winner this Friday, August 21st, so hurry!
