Theme Of The Week: Summer Camp!

(via flickr)

My boys started day camp last week, and my friends were all visiting their older children at sleep away camp this past weekend and it got me nostalgic for summer camp. Personally, I loved camp. I went to girl scout camp and YMCA camp until I was 16. Such fun memories.

I could be anyone I wanted because I never went to camp with my friends. My mother would just hear about some camp and sign me up. It was scary, but freeing at the same time. I even had my first slow dance at camp. I don't remember his name, but I remembered he was wearing cologne (um hello, we were like 14! What is up with the cologne?) and he smelled soooo good. To this day I love it when men smell like cologne.

My favorite things to do were sing, make lanyards, craft time, hiking, and campfires. I swear I started hundreds of lanyards and never completed a single one. And then after we graduated from lanyards we learned to make friendship bracelets. You KNOW you made them, traded them, and loved them.

So what I want to know is, did you go to sleep away camp, and if so, do you have any good stories to share with the group? Oh come on, I know one of you ran into a bear (or a skunk), ate too much candy from your care package and barfed all over your counselor, or even lost your virginity at camp. So dish!
