Destination: Kona Village

Aloha kittens. The first stop on our retro modern voyage is the big island of Hawaii. Nestled into a quaint beach cove,Kona Village is a step back in time. You don't stay in a large imposing building with 20 pools and a tram to get you from place to place- no, you stay in your very own 'hale' or 'hut' that is based on an old Polynesian bungalow. Check out the rooms:

The grounds are also amazing. There are three sections you can stay in: the beach section, the lava section and the pond section. Each area has it's own distinctive feeling. The lava section is the newest area and it seems to be mainly for love birds and couples.

The pond section is the oldest area of Kona Village. Each hale is built around a few large lagoons filled with the most spectacular flora and fauna.

The beach section has both beach side rooms and tall hales that seem almost like living in a tree house.

There are two pools and, of course, the beach.

How do I know all about Kona Village? Well, my whole family goes every spring for a week! My mom, sister, brothers, wives, my husband, and all the kids go and vacation together. It is my favorite place on earth after Los Angeles. I just adore the slow-paced casual elegance of Kona Village and starting in January, my family begins to count down the days until we are on the beach in Hawaii again.

If you are ever able to take a vacation in Hawaii, I highly recommend Kona Village.
