Vintage Living: The Viceroy Palm Springs

In keeping with the 'Palm Springs' theme, I would like to introduce you to my one of my favorite hotels in the desert: The Viceroy.

The Viceroy is a beautiful hotel furbished by the infamous and glamorous Kelly Wearstler. The entire hotel is decorated using only three colors: white, black and yellow and it is fabulous!

Even though the Hollywood Regent style has been played over and over (thanks to Kelly) I feel it is at it's best here. Palm Springs has always been known as the place where the famous faboosh go to party, but it also has an undercurrent of depravity and decay. Both of these themes are apparent at The Viceroy.

What I like best about staying there is the hotel is so flamboyant, it feels like you have to dress up! So I have been trolling the internet looking for my perfect weekend wardrobe to wear at The Viceroy:

First of all you have to have something to wear on the three hour drive from Los Angeles. This outfit is perfect because it is comfortable enough for the drive, but chic enough so you dont feel like a total slob when you check in. Of course you are driving a vintage convertable, so be sure to cover your updo with a scarf from your collection.

Once you are settled the first (and only) thing you want to do is have a drink at the pool. This outfit is perfect for your outdoor lounging:

After swimming all afternoon by the pool, I would then get dressed for dinner at Citron- the hotel restaurant.

After a wonderful dinner AND dessert, I would then retire for the evening knowing I had a full day on Saturday.

Saturday would begin with room service on the porch. I think this outfit is the perfect combination of chic and comfort, though I would wear the black belt, not the brown one shown with the outfit.

After finishing the Times crossword puzzle I would be ready for a fun morning of thrift shopping. Palm Springs is known for it's thrift and you can still find some amazing deals. It is incredibly HOT in the desert, so shopping in the morning is preferable.

After having lunch out on the town I would venture back to my room and possibly take a nap. I have to keep my energy up for a night out on the town later. Then its off to the pool to have a refreshing dip and a snack.

In the evening I would get dressed in my summer best because tonight I am having dinner at the famous Melvyns. This swanky dive has a wonderful piano bar, everyone dresses up for dinner, and the waiters wear tuxedoes. It has such a grand atmosphere. Then its off to see a drag show and dance the night away.

After sleeping in, I would again have breakfast on the porch and then take a quick dip in the pool before I had to check out and drive back home.

And that my friends is my idea of the perfect weekend at The Viceroy Palm Springs.
