Spotlight On: Modcloth

You've seen the ads. You've probably shopped there. But it never hurts to do a shout-out for a wonderful online store! I am LOVING Modcloth right now. I am a new convert, I never purchased anything until a few weeks ago, but let me tell you, I adore it! I love the retro-modern fashion and the excellent price points. I especially love their shoes.

Here is a Modcloth outfit I wore the other day to a cocktail party:

Digital Starfield Dress

The cocktail party was for our local public school's Education Foundation, so the attire needed to be a little bit more businessy then I usually dress. But I jazzed it up with a vintage Schiapparelli hat and a pretty necklace from Anthro. And, of course, the shoes are always a hit.

But there are so many dresses that are on my 'want' list, such as:

Black And White And Cute All Over Dress

I am always a sucker for a nautical look, and this dress has a little hint of it in the waist tabs. I also like that you can throw on a turtleneck under the dress for colder weather, or throw a little jacket on over it for yet another looks. Versatility is key!

Garden Club Dress

Are you looking for the perfect dress to wear to Thanksgiving dinner? Well look no further, because this is it! I think the beautiful fall colors on this dress are perfection, and I love the fact it really looks like a vintage dress! I would wear this with a belt and a vintage pin and really nice pair of camel colored shoes.

Betsy Johnson Dress

One of the things I like best about Modcloth is their price points. They tend to stick to a $150 dollar and under dress. But every now and then they find something that is too amazing to pass on, even if it is expensive. This is one of those dresses. I have loved Betsy for YEARS! I think her designs are amazing, the quality is great, and the fit is usually dead on. This dress is beautiful because the fabric is so unusual, with all the embroidery and cutouts, and the fushcia underskirt give it that pop of color. This is perfect holiday dress that you can wear for years to come. (But please loose the belt. Not cute. I suggest a satin or grosgrain ribbon from your local fabric store.)

Pleats And Thank You Dress

There is something so simple and elegant about this dress. It evokes a sort of 20's feeling to it- almost like you need to bob your hair and wear a cloche and a pair of t-strap heels with a long string of pearls. Or, for a more modern look, you could just throw on a crazy pair of heels and long free flowing locks, with a swipe of red lipstick for a night on the town.

Temporary Secretary Dress

Last we have a fun vintage inspired dress in my favorite color combination of grey and pink. This is very sexy dress, and I think it would be lovely with a sassy pink cap and grey heels.

So there you have it- 5 different dresses from Modcloth that are all amazing. I like to visit everyday to see what is 'new' because the best items sell out fast!

So tell me, do you shop at Modcloth, and if so, what was your latest purchase? If not, did my post inspire you to check it out? And if you don't like the clothing, please let me know why not- often constructive criticism is the best way to improve a product.
