Best Idea Ever!

So I read an article about this website: Rent The Runway where you can rent designer dresses and then return them by mail for as low as $50! None of them are vintage, but some of the dresses are pure runway! Check this out:

For all you Project Runway fans, we have a Christian Siriano dress in yellow and grey for only $200. Retail: $2830!

Here is Mochino Cheap and Chic (Dita's favorite!) for $75. Retail: $735!

This Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent is deco fabulous for only $50! Retail: $350!

Having grown up in the late 80's looking at Claudia, Cindy, and Linda, I have always wanted to be able to wear a Herve Leger. Unfortunately, I would look like a sausage trying to break out of its casing in that dress, but I like the idea that I could rent it if I wanted to! Rental: $150. Retail: $1590.

I know for many of you, vintage is your be all, end all. I totally understand that. But for others, it might be just the thing you are looking for when you want something new to wear to a fancy party or wedding, but don't want to spend a lot of money. Also, how many times do you really wear a fancy dress before you want a new one?

Now, the reason I don't have any links to the dresses is because the website is by 'invite only'. If you click here, it should take you to their home page and you can enter your email there. It only took 1-2 days for them to 'invite' me to look.

So tell me, do you think this is a good idea? If you had a wedding or party to go to, would you rent a dress? What about amazing vintage dresses? Would you rent them? How about the prices? Is $50 bucks still too much? Let me know in the comments.
