Shana Tova

Oh kittens, my feet are KILLING me! I have been cooking for two days in order to get ready for the Jewish New Year aka: Rosh Hashanah. In Judaism, Rosh Hashanah is one of our holiest holidays. On it we celebrate the new year by eating apples with honey (to symbolize a sweet year), and we blow the shofar, which is a horn made out of a .....well, a horn! It heralds the coming of the new year. This year the holiday is especially significant because it coincides with our weekly sabbath, which starts every Friday night.

So, needless to say, I am exhausted and the holiday hasn't even happened yet! We have a dinner Friday night (at someone else's home), then lunch tomorrow that I am hosting, then dinner again on Saturday night (at someone else's home) and then usually we have a lunch on Sunday, but I learned last year that it is exhausting to have a meal for the last lunch, so we are just eating together as a family. Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will be sure to think of you all as I light the candles. Shana Tova (Happy Holiday!)
