It has been confirmed by President Barack Obama that Osama Bin Laden has been killed in a US security operation in Pakistan. President Obama has called Bin Laden's death "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat al Qaeda." Bin Laden was top of America’s most wanted list, and was blamed by Washington for masterminding a string of other attacks, including the attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Africa in 1998.
