Happy Housewives: I Was a Whining, Miserable, Desperate Housewife--But I Finally Snapped Out of It...You Can, Too!
Slim: Memories Of A Rich And Imperfect Life
The Sisters: Babe Mortimer Paley, Betsy Roosevelt Whitney, Minnie Astor Fosburgh : The Lives and Times of the Fabulous Cushing Sisters
You can see the two themes: retro housewives and vintage socialites. I thought it would be fun to look at the first two books because of my love of all things vintage and housewife. I have a feeling I will either love or hate the Whining Housewives book. There will no inbetween.
As for the other two books, I have always been enamoured of socialites as opposed to actresses, though I am not sure why. Maybe because socialites have not been written about as much and you cant get as much information on them, as opposed to say Marilyn Monroe or Elisabeth Taylor. Plus socialites often dressed themselves and the actresses of yore had publicists and stylists to create an image that was often at odds at who they really were.
Once I have finished with them, I will let you know if they are any good.
