It's Delish! Tuna Fish Salad Sandwich
So everyone knows how to make tuna fish, but I thought it would be fun to show you how I make it and then I want each person to let me know how they like their tuna in the comments section. I bet we can get the most comments on Tales Of A Retro-Modern Housewife ever!
First I start with solid white tuna packed in water, not oil- any brand will do. I drain all the water out of it and then using a fork I break it up in a small bowl.
Next I add the mayo to taste. I don't like a lot of mayonnaise in my salad, so I use only 1-2 tsp. I use Hollywood brand because that is what I grew up on.
Then I add some sweet relish. This is the way my mom made tuna for us, so it brings back childhood memories for me. I also like it with chopped onion, celery, capers, and touch of Dijon mustard, but sometimes you have to go with the old reliable recipe. Also, this is MUCH quicker then chopping all those vegetables. Does anyone else use sweet relish?
Once everything is in the bowl I often put a little freshly cracked black pepper in it and mix.
Once the tuna salad is finished, I scrounge around in my bread drawer to find a yummy roll or some whole wheat bread. Today I found a potato roll and thought it would be perfect. I don't toast my buns (giggles immaturely to self) because I like keeping the crunch factor to the lettuce only. Also, I don't add more mayo to the bread because I find the tuna to be 'wet' already. Then I add some yummy chips, today it was sour cream and chives, but my favorite are salt and vinegar with a tuna sandwich, and then I devour the whole thing in about 2 minutes. YUM!
So now I want to hear how you make a tuna sandwich. Do you use mustard? How about fresh dill? Got a great recipe for mock tuna? I want to know how you all eat your tuna salad sandwiches.
